Recent Venus Protocol Phishing Attack Results in $27M Loss
A user of Venus Protocol ($XVS) recently became a victim of a phishing scam, leading to a substantial loss of approximately $27 million in cryptocurrency. The attacker managed to execute a malicious transaction draining:
- ~$19.8M in $vUSDT
- ~$7.1M in $vUSDC
- ~$147.1K in $XRP
- ~$22.5K in $ETH
The attacker was able to gain token approvals from the victim’s wallet, highlighting the severity of phishing attacks in the crypto space. With just one wrong click, years of earnings can be wiped out.
